Filly tops Monday's sales at $200,000

OCALA - A filly by Mach Uno topped Ocala Breeders' Sales Company's 2008 Selected Yearling Sale Monday, commanding $200,000.

The Adena Springs yearling was bought by Dr. Robert Fishman, a retired Pennsylvania physician.

The gray filly, Hip No.47, is out of Top of the League, by Lite the Fuse.

The highest-selling colt of the day was Dream of Atlantis, bought by New York based Sabine Stable with a price tag of $165,000. The colt was by Stormy Atlantic and out of City of Dreams. He was consigned by Francis and Barbara Vanlangendonck, agents.

Another top seller was Hip No. 101, a filly by Purge and consigned by Abbie Road Farm, Lisa McGreevy, agent.

She was purchased by Kinsman Farm for $150,000. The Ocala farm is owned by New York Yankees owner George Steinbrenner. The bay filly is out of stakes placed Cherokee Crossing, by Cherokee Colony, and is a half-sister to grade one winner Siphonic.

For the day, 115 yearlings brought a total of $5,778,000, compared with 167 selling for a total of $9,679,500 last year.

The average price was $50,243, compared with $57,961 a year ago. The median price was $40,000, compared with last year's sale record $50,000.

The buyback percentage was 42.5 percent; it was 25.1 percent last year. The sale continues today with the first open session beginning at 10:30 a.m.
